Day 8 Prayer and Fasting: Praying for Personal and Family Healing
“Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” – Isaiah 53:4-5
According to the dictionary, the word healing comes from the verb “heal”, which means to cause (a wound, injury, or person) to become sound or healthy again; to alleviate (a person’s distress or anguish); correct or put right (an undesirable situation). From this definition, we discover that healing not only has to do with a physical ailment but also an unpleasant situation, distress or anguish.
It is interesting to find that a majority of the miracles that were performed by Jesus on earth were those of healing. That alone can place a stronger emphasis on the fact that God values healing so much. That also can clearly show that one of the main reasons of Jesus coming on earth was to bring healing to the ailing souls of the world. Thus, the Bible says that by his stripes we were healed.

In this modern day, many people go from pillar to post looking for healing because they do not have an understanding that there is no permanent healing that can be found outside the bracket of Jesus’ name and blood. One might argue to say that some witchdoctors are equally powerful such that they heal even terminal diseases. There is no permanent healing because Jesus is the only one who can grant one the permanent and the perfect healing that we all seek.
“When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He spit on the man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything? He asked.” – Mark 8: 23-24
At one point in time, there was a blind man who was brought to Jesus so that he could be healed. However, there is something that is very extra-ordinary yet looked so ordinary about the process of healing. His relatives brought him. Sickness is a very terrible spirit in that even if it inflicts one person; it can affect the entire family. I have seen men and women who have lost their jobs because someone in their family got sick. Thus, the blind man was then brought in by his loved ones. They believed that Jesus was the healer and as such, the moment that they brought him to Jesus, they expected him to touch the man so that he could receive his sight immediately.
Unfortunately, Jesus did not act according to their expectations; instead, He held the man by the hand and led him out of the city. Take note that, when Jesus held the man, he had the healer right there with him (Jesus), but he was not healed because Jesus wanted to usher the man into the healing environment.
You can be with the healer and not be healed if you are not in the healing environment. Many people are accustomed to the belief that the moment that you have Jesus, all your sickness will go away. It is true to some extent, but one thing I have come to learn about God is that He works with principles. During this prayer and fasting, God assured me that as we gather as one, this sanctuary upon which we are gathering shall become a healing environment for your family and you. It does not matter who has been sick and for how long, but if you believe with me and you connect by faith, you will see the rewards of Jehovah Rapha taking place in your life, in the name of Jesus!
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the provision of healing that You made as You sent forth Your Word; the Word that healed all diseases; and rescued men from the sting of death. I believe that as I call upon Your name, no disease or ailment shall ever find room in my life. I declare that I am stronger than ever and divine health is my portion, in Jesus’ name!
1. Heavenly Father, thank You for it is in Your goodwill that I may be in health even as my soul prospers. I refuse to live outside Your will, oh God. I reject and denounce every will written against me by the father of lies. I am a child of God!
2. Thank You, Lord, for You are the same yesterday, today and forever. As You healed in the days of old, I believe You are healing my family and me today, in the name of Jesus. Wherever there was pain, sorrow, discord or breakages, I speak Your healing and mending power, right now, in
3. As Your Word says, let the weak say I am strong. Let the sick say I am healed. I stand and confess my healing today, in the Mighty name of Jesus! (Joel 3:10)
